Bide within the Law you must, in
perfect Love and perfect Trust.
Live you must and let to live,
fairly take and fairly give.
For tread the Circle thrice about
to keep unwelcome spirits out.
To bind the spell well every time,
let the spell be said in rhyme.
Light of eye and soft of touch,
speak you little, listen much.
Honor the Old Ones in deed and
name,
let love and light be our guides
again.
Deosil go by the waxing moon,
chanting out the joyful tune.
Widdershins go when the moon doth
wane,
and the werewolf howls by the dread
wolfsbane.
When the Lady's moon is new, kiss
the hand to Her times two.
When the moon rides at Her peak
then your heart's desire seek.
Heed the North winds mighty gale,
lock the door and trim the sail.
When the Wind blows from the East,
expect the new and set the feast.
When the wind comes from the South,
love will kiss you on the mouth.
When the wind whispers from the
West, all hearts will find peace and rest.
Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn
them fast and burn them slow.
Birch in the fire goes to represent
what the Lady knows.
Oak in the forest towers with
might, in the fire it brings the God's
insight. Rowan is a tree of power
causing life and magick to flower.
Willows at the waterside stand
ready to help us to the Summerland.
Hawthorn is burned to purify and to
draw faerie to your eye.
Hazel-the tree of wisdom and
learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning.
White are the flowers of Apple tree
that brings us fruits of fertility.
Grapes grow upon the vine giving us
both joy and wine.
Fir does mark the evergreen to
represent immortality seen.
Elder is the Lady's tree burn it
not or cursed you'll be.
Four times the Major Sabbats mark
in the light and in the dark.
As the old year starts to wane the
new begins, it's now Samhain.
When the time for Imbolc shows
watch for flowers through the snows.
When the wheel begins to turn soon
the Beltane fires will burn.
As the wheel turns to Lamas night
power is brought to magick rite.
Four times the Minor Sabbats fall
use the Sun to mark them all.
When the wheel has turned to Yule
light the log the Horned One rules.
In the spring, when night equals
day time for Ostara to come our way.
When the Sun has reached it's
height time for Oak and Holly to fight.
Harvesting comes to one and all
when the Autumn Equinox does fall.
Heed the flower, bush, and tree by
the Lady blessed you'll be.
Where the rippling waters go cast a
stone, the truth you'll know.
When you have and hold a need,
harken not to others greed.
With a fool no season spend or be
counted as his friend.
Merry Meet and Merry Part bright
the cheeks and warm the heart.
Mind the Three-fold Laws you should
three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow wear the
star upon your brow.
Be true in love this you must do
unless your love is false to you.
These Eight words the Rede fulfill:
"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye
Will"
My Life Mate
You washed my soul with your
tears
I stand cleansed after all these
years
You lit my heart with your love
I stand happy after all these
years
You filled my dreams with your
smile
I sleep with peace upon my face.
You have softened my hardness
And kept living worth living.
Joyful to be choosen and
chooser.
I love thee then, now, and
forever.
Knot
by Enadus
A knot is not a useless thing
It keeps in place with rope and
string
Not all kept is hard or soft
Knots can keep wishes, hope and
thoughts
Held by magick knots we make
For life and love not to
forsake.
Wiccan Hope
adapted from The Fellowship of the Ring
All that is gold does not
glitter,
Not all those who wander are
lost;
The old that is strong does not
wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the
frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be
woken,
A light from the shadows shall
spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was
broken;
The crownless again shall sing.
The Witches' Creed
by Doreen Valiente
Hear now the words of the
witches,
The secrets we hid in the
night,
When dark was our destiny's
pathway,
That now we bring forth into light.
Mysterious water and fire,
The earth and the wide-ranging
air,
By hidden quintessence we know
them,
And will and keep silent and dare.
The birth and rebirth of all
nature,
The passing of winter and
spring,
We share with the life
universal,
Rejoice in the magical ring.
Four times in the year the Great
Sabbat
Returns, and witches are seen
At Lammas, and Candlemas
dancing,
On May Eve and old Hallowe'en.
When day-time and night-time are
equal,
When the sun is at greatest and
least,
The four Lesser Sabbats are
summoned,
Again witches gather in feast.
Thirteen silver moons in a year
are,
Thirteen is the coven's array.
Thirteen times as Esbat make
merry,
For each golden year and a day.
The power was passed down the
ages,
Each time between woman and
man,
Each century unto the other,
Ere time and the ages began.
When drawn is the magical
circle,
By sword or athame or power,
Its compass between the two worlds
lie,
In Land of the Shades for that hour.
This world has no right then to know
it,
And world beyond will tell
naught,
The oldest of Gods are invoked
there,
The Great Work of magic is wrought.
For two are the mystical
pillars,
That stand to at the gate of the
shrine,
And two are the powers of
nature,
The forms and the forces divine.
The dark and the light in
succession,
The opposites each unto each,
Shown forth as a God and a
Goddess,
Of this did our ancestors teach.
By night he's the wild wind's
rider,
The Horn'd One, the Lord of the
shades,
By day he's the King of the
Woodlands,
The dweller in green forest
glades.
She is youthful or old as she pleases,
She sails the torn clouds in her
barque,
The bright silver lady of midnight,
The crone who weaves spells in the
dark.
The master and mistress of
magic,
They dwell in the deeps of the
mind,
Immortal and ever-renewing,
With power to free or to bind.
So drink the good wine to the Old
Gods,
And dance and make love in their
praise,
Til Elphame's fair land shall receive
us,
In peace at the end of our days.
An Do What You Will be the
challenge,
So be it in Love that harms
none,
For this is the only
commandment,
By Magick of old, be it done.

Lady Judith
One simple cell became a lady faire
and young
Bringing summer to winter and spring
to fall,
Such were the praises of her heart and
mind
A consort of charm and power to one
and all
But fickle time allotted the lady
little time
Only twenty-three summers her word she
sung.
Lady Judith from the southern realm so
faire
Thy body stricken fatally ill beyond
Man's arts
Cell by cell it crowded your soul and
life
And so you flew away from life as a
lark
Away from pain, faire one, away from
strive
Until her last cell died and fate
ceased to care.
---------Judy Nordling
1952-1974 Excert from Lady Heather's Book of
Shadows
Living in this modern world can weary the soul.
The spirit fights cold modernity and sometimes needs a rest. It is
best and easiest to close your eyes when you cannot spare time to
seek quiet respite. Squeeze gentle on your eyelids and enter a world
of color. It is often said that when you close your eyes you open
your mind to other planes of reality. The ether is full of power,
energy and mystery. It is with eyes wide shut one can see what is
invisable to the masters of these urban empire that comprises the
great cities of the West. Let your heart lead the way for your closed
eyes and open mind. Enjoy and feel the power of raw color, shapeless
form, and ever changing visions. Let it remind you that this unseen
world by camera or machine, is emowering your spirit and your love.
Let it remind you that wealth and personal empires do not make for
happiness. When you are recharged you can once again open your eyes
and find your way amoungst the labyrints made by civilization. For we
of the Craft know that civilization rests only by the grace of Nature
and is shines only temporarily.

Eight words the Wiccan Rede
fulfill:
An ye harm none, do what ye will.
Fear not Evil
In life there follows ill and
pain
It is the price we pay for freedom
bane.
Out of good comes three time
more,
Out of mindful acts of pain,
Comes three times backward gain
But forces true to good and all
Can fail to hold the innocent
fall.
Pain, Death, Hunger and Strife
Can visit the just and good of
life.
Out of this vile reality
Where souls suffer much
And evil does all spoil,
Shining Gold of Good can roar,
The flow of time is fickle to
all
From losses great new joy can
soar
With higher love and happiness for
all.
From Wolftail's Book of Shadows where he ponders how
great evils can be responsible for very positive things. Examples
are countless in history. Without the rise of Hitler, a Jewish
nation would not have been established for the Jews. Without the
Revolutionary War the freedom enjoyed in the United States would
not have come about. Without the Civil War slavery would have
continued. Without the suffering of Franco, Spain would not be a
democracy today. Without the pain of childbirth, no babies would
exist. Life is full of such examples where out of bad things good
arrises. Chinese philosophers have pondered if evil acts can be
the seed to greater good. They wonder if good can exist without
evil. Must a good person sometimes commit evil in order create
good? Some in the craft do ponder this ying/yang paradox.
Thesmophoria
Dead is our daughter and
sister
Who lived in the golden valley
faire
Along the byway of one hundred
trees
Cast down her columned temple
walls.
Wisdom deep, a soul of good
wine
She traveled time far and
wide
Spread goodly of her fruits to
all
Yet virgin still of a mother's
way.
Lange buried the stones of
home
Lost, O sweet notes of voice and
song
Her hand to never grace the
world
Thy bosom betrayed by death's
wound.
O mother Demeter where is your
babe?
Sadly wail the blackened
beasts.
Their mistress now cold and
still
Her learned mind stricken low from
within.
And so the life is gone of daughter
faire
Our teacher of love now shadow's
care
O cold the mind and limbs did
grow
Far beyond our voice and eye she
flows.

Lovers of
Eros
Honeysuckle and
Jasmine
In my grip
I dance with the
moon
Beneath this Autumn
flesh
Signaling the
stars
Of Venus's severed
head
As the last wailing
Lover of Eros
stalks
Ships of men
making
Love to the sea
Men who've no
intention
Of stalking me
So I take hold the
wind
And give it my
name
In a fiery
tumble
Of burning
heart
And smothered
soul
To lie atop the
mountains
Of my heaving breast
full
I swell with
desire
At the thought of
You
Creatures of
habit,
Movers of night
Leave your ways inside
me-
Far from sight.
